The Katoomba Neighbourhood Centre program, called Christmas Connect, is back by popular demand after attracting some 200 participants last year.
“Christmas Connect aims to give people who feel isolated at Christmas time a place and a space to go to connect with other people,” said Christmas Connect program co-ordinator, Mel Michael.
“Isolation can be caused by many different things and may include depression, family estrangement, financial strain, living away from home, elderly, mental health challenges and more.”
Some of the activities on offer include fabric printmaking, cupcake decorating, art journalling, painting with watercolours, storytelling, creative writing and sketching.
The classes through the period of December 28-30 and from January 3-5. Almost all are free (bar a drawing trip to Mt Wilson).
“The classes promise to be engaging, relaxed and interesting and a place to come to when other supports may have taken a break over Christmas.” All participants must book to attend and are limited to two classes per week as places are strictly limited.
Go to the website www.bmconnect.org to check out the program or to book. Bookings can also be made on 4782 1117 or at the centre at 6/10 Station Street, Katoomba.
