A man needed help from Blue Mountains Police Rescue when he became lost and dehydrated during a run at noon on Saturday, February 18.

The 45-year-old runner from Chiswick in Sydney, was running between the old Queen Victoria Hospital in Wentworth Falls and Scenic World, Katoomba, when he took a wrong turn and became separated from his running group.
He contacted emergency services and provided his location co-ordinates. Police Rescue and two special operations ambulance officers drove to the location and found the man.
“He was provided with fluids and was transported back to the Queen Victoria Hospital where he was left with the rest of the group who had finished the run,” said Blue Mountains Detective Acting Inspector Adam Evans.
Alleged headbutt
A 22-year-old Katoomba man was spoken to by police after allegedly attempting to headbutt a staff member at Katoomba train station. Inspector Evans said the man was intoxicated at about 7pm on February 16, when station staff approached him, and the alleged headbutt occurred. The man attempted to run from police, jumping a security gate before entering the rail corridor. A short time later he was caught by police. Inquiries are continuing.
Low-range drink-driving
About 10.15pm on February 19 a 45-year-old man was stopped for a random breath test on the Great Western Highway at Blaxland, returning a positive result. He was arrested and taken to Springwood Police Station where he returned a low-range reading. The man was issued with a court attendance notice.
Winmalee house robbery
Between midnight on February 18 and 8am on February 19 a house in Winmalee was broken into while the occupants were asleep. A wallet and cash were stolen. Police are reminding residents to secure doors and windows even when home.
Large hail in Springwood
On February 18 golf ball-sized hail was reported in Patterson Rd, Springwood. The Bureau of Meteorology weather station in Springwood recorded 3.2mm of rain/hail that day with a minimum temperature of 19.2 degrees and a high of 29.5 degrees.
A day later, four teams of volunteers from Blue Mountains SES assisted people in The Hills district after hail caused extensive damage to properties.
That region made more than 530 requests for SES help.
