Penrith City Council will host a free family arts festival on Sunday, June 4, to celebrate World Environment Day at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre.
The festival will include World Environment Sun-Day and the Talking Rubbish Comedy Gala, events curated by much-loved musical comedy trio Tripod.
World Environment Sun-Day will be a fun and action-packed afternoon from noon-4pm at the green Mondo outside The Joan. The family-focused event will encourage recycling, upcycling and waste reduction. There will be food trucks and entertainment throughout the day with a sustainable and enviro-focus.
Budding filmmakers are invited to submit three-minute films on the theme of emptying recyclables for the Binema Film Festival with the winner to be announced on the day. Live music from local bands Hot Potato, The Vegetable Plot and All Our Exes Live In Texas.
At night, Tripod will headline the adults-only Talking Rubbish Comedy Gala from 7pm. They’ll be joined by comedians Rhys Nicholson, Luke Heggie and Becky Lucas. Tickets for the gala are available from The Joan. It is free but requires a ticket for seat allocation.
