Bryn was the only New South Wales rider to make the final in the eight years boys event, after winning all his heats. He came second in his quarter final and third in his semi-final to make the final.
The Hazelbrook Public School student, who has raced since he was three-years old, was competing in his fourth national championships at Brisbane but this was his first in a competitive age division. He was seven when the championships took place. He battled 62 of the country’s top BMX racers to claim his silver medal.
Sponsored by Krank-it Bike Gear, Bryn even threw some promotional hats to the crowd while receiving his medal from the podium – just like the professional riders.
While his result qualified him for the world titles in the USA in July, the cost of making it there will unfortunately prevent him from competing.
