Toolo, the Blue Mountains Tool Library, and Modern Art Projects (MAP) will officially launch the new temporary studio and multi-use performance and exhibition space.
The stunning location, right on the escarpment overlooking the Jamison Valley, affords artists a splendid backdrop whilst they create their artworks.
Director of Toolo, Justin Morrissey said: “There has been such an overwhelming demand on our flagship Tool Library space that we needed to find another space to offer artists and makers a space to create.
“Partnering with Modern Art Projects has been a great way to facilitate a space for creative industries practitioners in the Blue Mountains.”
MAP president Beata Geyer thanked council for the temporary lease of the space at a reduced rate until early 2018 when the property is scheduled for major renovation for future use.
“While the kiosk awaits its restoration and redevelopment, Toolo and MAP have already transformed the space into a thriving hotbed of multidisciplinary arts activity, from book launches, to workshops, art exhibitions and artist-in-residence studios,” Ms Geyer said.
The launch on June 3-4 will include sound, video and art installations and performance from noon-5pm with food and refreshments available. The official launch party starts at 6pm on Saturday and is open to all.
