UPDATE: Thick, black smoke filled the air on Monday morning when a garage was destroyed by fire in East Blaxland.
The fire in the free-standing fibro garage in Robertswood Avenue was believed to have started from an electrical fault, possibly from a washing machine, said Blue Mountains Police Inspector Peter Scheinflug.
“Nobody was hurt, but it had the potential to be nasty,” Insp Scheinflug said.

Emergency services rushed to a fire in East Blaxland on Monday, July 31.
Glenbrook Fire Station asked people to remain clear of the area near Robertswood Avenue at about 11.55am.
“FRNSW 301 Glenbrook currently on scene at a structure fire in Robertswood Ave Blaxland with multiple other appliances,” they posted on the brigade’s Facebook page.
