Several groups new to the festival will take part in this year’s Music in the Gardens program, a popular feature of the annual Leura Gardens Festival.

There is no additional charge for Music in the Gardens beyond the $8 garden entry fee and holders of $25 all-gardens entry tickets will have unlimited access to all performances.

The 53rd Leura Gardens Festival will take place from Saturday, September 30 to Sunday, October 8. Eleven enchanting spring gardens will be taking part, two new to the festival, four returning after a break and several old favourites.

Held daily from Sunday, October 1, the performances take place from 1pm in the beautiful grounds of the Waldorf Leura Gardens Resort, 20-28 Fitzroy Street, Leura.

New this year is the Raguda Trio who perform exciting foot-tapping Balkan music on clarinet, piano accordion, ukulele and percussion.

Also new to the festival is Celtic Airs and Graces whose inspiration is provided by renowned harpist Martyn Cook. Repertoire includes classical, Celtic and popular music and Cook will be joined by Simon Watts on violin.

The fabulous Blue Mountains City Band will also make its first appearance at this year’s festival. In recent years the band has played at Anzac Day services, Australia Day celebrations and the much loved Winter Magic parade.

Returning to the festival will be the enthusiastic Heathens Choir of Blackheath, the talented performers of the Katoomba Jazz Quartette, the ever-popular duo, Skarratt and Watts, and the dynamic men of Penrith Harmony who will perform an a cappella, four part harmony barbershop style program.

As always, festival proceeds go to the Blue Mountains District Anzac Memorial Hospital and other local health-related organisations.
