It will be a movie with a difference at Mount Vic Flicks when Bright Blue Gorilla put on a concert before the screening of Mr Rudolpho’s Jubilee.
Mr Rudolpho’s Jubilee is a romantic comedy starring Emmy award winner Christiane Paul, Stig Eldred and Francesco Mazzini as Italian fashion designer, Mr Rudolpho. He is rich, famous and depressed and decides to end it all. Things don't go as planned and he finds himself hanging out with a bunch of bohemian artists while the rest of the world is madly searching for him.
The musical narration in the film, or the Greek chorus, is provided by Bright Blue Gorilla, two filmmakers and musicians from Los Angeles – producer Robyn Rosenkrantz and writer/director Michael Glover.
The film was shot in Berlin and Italy with 300 artists from 36 countries putting their talent into making the film. It is in German, Italian and English (with English subtitles).
It has been showing to great acclaim across Europe.
The pair has made six feature films, a dozen CDs and have been on the road for 28 years. Producer Robyn Rosenkrantz and director Michael Glover quit their LA jobs in 1990, sold everything they had (except their guitars) and bought one-way tickets to Europe. They’ve been travelling ever since and are still going strong.
At the Sunday, March 11 2pm screening of Mr Rudolpho’s Jubilee at Mount Vic Flicks, there will be a live performance by Bright Blue Gorilla before the film and a Q&A with the filmmakers afterwards.
