Springwood’s business community and bowlers are joining forces for a new twilight sporting competition starting on February 16.
A partnership between Springwood Men’s and Women’s Bowling Clubs and the Springwood Chamber of Commerce, the friendly competition will be held after work on Fridays over six weeks.
“We would welcome teams from any part of our community – the council, fire brigade, police, schools, banks, real estate or community groups, no matter how big or small,” said organiser Bob Hahn.
He hopes the competition will provide the opportunity for people to come together at the end of the working week – and maybe enjoy some friendly rivalries into the bargain.
Seven teams have already signed up take part, with the competition open to 14 teams. Teams have four members each, with the bowling clubs providing one player to skip each team.
While the emphasis will be on fun and friendship, prize money will also be up for grabs – $720 for the winning team, or even more depending on how many teams take part.
Chamber of Commerce member, Hess Hami of Blue Mountains Computers, is one business owner who will be fielding a team – likely to be named the Propellerheads.
Cost is $10 for each player with the Springwood Community Bowls Trophy starting on Friday February 16 from 5.30-8.30pm.
