The Ten Sopranos are a combination of classical and contemporary singers who deliver a varied repertoire of operatic favourites and well-chosen popular songs in a spine-tingling fashion.
Underpinned by the meticulous detail spent on every note sung, audiences have been so moved by the performances that some have left theatres in tears, others have left exhilarated, and others just loiter around the venue to savour the moment a little longer.
The operatic arias are sung in their original language and key while the contemporary songs are performed with a vocal delivery at once engaging and fascinating.
Nessun Dorma and La Donna Mobile, arguably the most famous melodies in the operatic repertoire, and written for the male tenor voice, are handled with perfection, and augmented with subtle new harmonies.
At the other end of the scale, John Denver’s Aye Calypso and Peter Allen’s Don’t Cry Out Loud are rearranged and deliver a haunting and emotional experience through the sensitive vocal treatments.
Award winning artistic director and lead vocalist, Penny Pavlakis, has aced major singing competitions in the world in both classical and contemporary music including International star-search USA.
Pavlakis is a principle soprano with a working history that includes Baz Luhrman, Tommy Tycho, Secret Garden, Dame Joan Sutherland and Grammy and Brit award winning conductors and song writers, and over 1000 performances across the world.
Musical highlights include Amigos Para Sempre, Granada, Danny Boy, You Raise Me Up, New York New York, La Donna Mobile, The Habanera, O Sole Mio, Funiculi Funicula, Summertime and I Dreamed a Dream.
