With the fourth and final independent investigator’s report now with Blue Mountains Council, general manager Rosemary Dillon will now look to see whose heads will roll from the asbestos scandal.
The Blue Mountains Gazette understands named individuals in the Tooma reports, particularly those associated with the Lawson Depot will be investigated as part of an internal process.
Those who were named in the interim report were due to respond to its findings by the end of March.
“People were potentially exposed to asbestos fibres,” a source told theGazette.
“A lot of pressure will now be on the new general manager to hold people to account.”
The first Tooma report heard council tried to save between $40,000 and $50,000 on waste disposal fees from the soil removal at the Lawson stockpile site but have now spent $600,000 remediating it.
