Mt Victoria Public School students read the Anzac dedication in their little village at the top of the Mountains this morning.
Remembering veterans of both world wars, Korea, Malaya, Borneo, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan as well as peacekeepers, the young school leaders spoke with clear voices.
“We think of every man, woman and child who ... died so that the lights of freedom and humanity might continue to shine,” they said.
Later, wreaths were laid on behalf of both MPs, Trish Doyle and Susan Templeman, by the Mt Vic Community Association, RFS, Fire and Rescue and Police.
Under sparkling blue skies and surrounded by the colours of autumn, the crowd then joined in singing the national anthems of both New Zealand and Australia.
Then MC, Les Hayward, bid the group thanks and farewell.
