The hero chefs of the Blue Mountains will come together on Sunday May 6 at the Leura Harvest Festival to share their signature dishes at pocket money prices.
This annual festival cooking ritual, the Chef's Table, gives a taste of the full spectrum of flavours from acclaimed menus throughout the region.
The program will see chefs prepare their best dishes live at the festival which celebrates seasonal fresh food and sustainable living within a 100-mile radius of Leura.
The guest chefs include Roy McVeigh of Darleys, Lilianfels Resort, and Petrina Kerr from Palette Dining. Jodie Van Der Velden of Josophan’s Fine Chocolates, will be serving dessert, and an afternoon cheese and wine tasting will be presented by Dryridge Estate and the Carrington Cellars and Deli. Each tasting plate costs $7.50, and the cheese and wine tasting is $12.
As well as the all-day food event, The Escarpment Group will showcase its upcoming gastronomic adventure, Miss Lilian Teahouse. The stall will serve authentic Asian-style street foods prepared by its chefs from various multicultural backgrounds. The Fairmont Resort will also have a stall with delights direct from their kitchen.
The Escarpment Group, the major festival sponsor, will also hold cooking demonstrations at the stall, where visitors can sample high tea treats.
The festival will also feature new organic producer, Central West Fresh, selling vegetables, eggs, lamb and beef from the Central West.
Now in its fifth year, the Leura Harvest Festival will have more than 70 stalls of organic produce and products, micro-farming information, solar-powered vehicles, herbs and spices, apple ciders and local wines, as well as repurposed clothing, art, homewares, and organic beauty products.
The festival also features the Birches of Leura Scarecrow Competition, the Pet Chook Show and Josophan’s Great Australian Chocolate Cake Competition.
Other major sponsors for the festival are Bendigo Bank, Blue Mountains Hardware and the Fairmont Resort
