Blue Mountains Police has a new commander at the helm.
Superintendent David Jones stepped into the top job on Monday, replacing Superintendent Darryl Jobson who takes over the Cumberland Police Area Command.
Supt Jones has been the commander at Quakers Hill for the past two years, and was the commander at Hornsby and the Hawkesbury prior to this.
He was raised in the Hawkesbury, where he still resides with his wife and two adult children.
Supt Jones said he had a proactive approach to policing, and this would continue in the Blue Mountains.
“I like to see police engage with all members of the community,” he said.
There would be a visible police presence throughout the Mountains, and a focus on Katoomba in particular, where there was “a bit more happening.” This included “nuisance crime” such as graffiti and drug offences.
“I’m looking forward to my time here and knowing the intricacies of the command,” Supt Jones said.
