A second person has died following Friday night’s tragic incidents in the Bega Valley.
Murray Deakin, 20, faced Batemans Bay Court on Sunday, June 3, on one count of murder and two counts of wounding with intent to murder.
He is accused of stabbing his grandparents Gail and Thomas Winner at their home in East Street, Bega on Friday, June 1.
He then allegedly carjacked a vehicle on Sapphire Coast Drive during a five-hour run from police that ended in bushland near Bournda
The 69-year-old woman died at the South East Regional Hospital and the 71-year-old man remains in critical condition in Canberra Hospital.
Fairfax Media was told on Sunday afternoon, a 54-year-old man, who was allegedly struck in the head with a hammer during the carjacking, has now died as a result of his injuries.
The victim is understood to be Mick Horne, a former police officer on the Far South Coast.
It’s expected Deakin will face an additional charge of murder when he reappears in Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday, June 4.
