There’s no stopping Woodford’s Brendan Davies.
On Saturday he won the Western Sydney Marathon, a mere two weeks after his second Ultra-Trail Australia 100km win.
Davies, aged 41, held off Alexander Matthews and Brendan Fink to finish the 42km event in Penrith in 2 hours 36 minutes 10 seconds.
Last year Davies ran second to Ben Harris, after back to back marathon wins the previous two years.
Winmalee’s Leigha Wills, trained by Davies, was also in fine form as the first woman home in the marathon this year in 3:03:51. Hot on her tail were Magda Karimali-Poulos (3:05:55) and Heidi Rickard (3:19:12) from Blaxland.
