Katoomba will still celebrate the winter solstice this Saturday, albeit on a smaller scale than usual.
Council is sponsoring free multi-venue, family-friendly entertainment from local artists in 13 locations in the Katoomba CBD. These include St Hilda’s, Vintage Emporium, the town centre, Platform Gallery and Hominy Bakery. The full program of events is at facebook.com/bluemountainscitycouncil.
At the Carrington Hotel, Hands Heart and Feet will perform on the driveway at noon, as they have so frequently in the past. There will also be fireworks at 6pm, accompanied by Samba-trombada.
Hotel co-owners Mark Jarvis and Michael Brischetto, said: “We do hope that locals will still celebrate the solstice on the day in true Katoomba style.”
And in Kingsford Smith Park, there will be a Love and Light picnic from noon until 6pm. MadCowboyDisease and Rectoplasm will play and people are asked to bring instruments to help raise the vibe. See facebook.com/loveandlightpicnic.
