One of the longest running art shows in the Blue Mountains will once again include art, artists and judges of the highest calibre.
The Springwood Art Show, which helped establish the Blue Mountains’ reputation as an arts hub and recognised ‘city of the arts’, has traditionally showcased the best established and emerging talent in the area. The art show will again feature more than 400 pieces of original art from more than 100 predominantly local artists.
As well as painting, sculpture and photography, the event will include a range of quality artisan crafts such as leather handbags, jewellery, woodwork and textiles.
Featured artist this year will be Robyn Woodward, who began her professional arts career more than 30 years ago after studying fine art at Penrith TAFE and Western Sydney University Nepean.
As well as being a great event at which to snap up reasonably-priced quality art, Springwood Art Show also has more than $5000 worth of prizes available including the $1500 Rose Lindsay prize sponsored by Harvey Norman.
Apart from the viewer’s choice, the awards will be judged by a team of local art experts including award-winning portrait painter Victor Peralta, and Lizzy Marshall who is the public arts officer at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre.
The show is held at Springwood High School from August 3 to 5. Details: springwoodartshow.org.au, or for art submissions phone Rod on 4751 8245.
