The Blue Mountains community will have a chance to share their thoughts and ideas on school funding and education policy at a community forum with Labor’s federal education spokeswoman, Tanya Plibersek, on Tuesday, November 20.
Federal Member for Macquarie Susan Templeman has written to schools and P&Cs, inviting them to have their say at the forum to be held at Springwood Country Club from 6.30-7.30pm.
“I have a strong belief that education has a transformational effect, and that investment in our schools should be a priority,” Ms Templeman said.
“I believe our schools, students and teachers deserve a better level of funding. That’s why Labor has announced an extra $14 billion in school funding.
“For schools in the Hawkesbury and Blue Mountains, this is an additional $16.54 million over the first three years.
“Individual schools and their communities can see exactly how much better off they will be over the first three years of the funding model, under a Labor Government via a new website – www.fairgoforschools.com.au. This will give each school an estimate of the extra funding it can expect in the first three years of Labor’s plan,” she said.
