Ella Wallace, one of Katoomba Public School’s captains, has become a published author at the age of 12.
Ella’s very funny short story about a blocked dunny won Penguin Random House’s Writing Competition for Kids earlier this year and is published in Total Quack Up.
This collection of hilarious short stories includes not only Ella’s story, but also contributions from some of Australia’s best kids’ authors including Paul Jennings, Adrian Beck, Sally Rippin and Matt Stanton.
All the stories are illustrated by the very funny James Foley who said in his blog about Ella’s story: “It is an incredibly funny story and easily my favourite in the whole anthology. Ella is a young writer to watch.”
Another wonderful thing about Total Quack Up is that the authors and illustrator have donated their work, so that all profits goes to Dymocks Childrens Charities, enabling kids across Australia to access literacy programs and great books, so if you buy a copy you know it’s for a great cause as well as being a great read!.
When the book was launched last month, Ella was flown to Melbourne and appeared on Kids WB TV.
