Labor councillor in Ward 4, Darryl Bowling, is on the electoral roll in the electorate of Braddon in Tasmania.
Responding to the Gazette’s queries, Cr Bowling said: “I am temporarily dividing my time between Blaxland and Tasmania due to a significant family matter. This is not a permanent arrangement.
“I do attend all ordinary council meetings and manage my constituent matters fully.”
Cr Bowling said he intended to serve his full term.
He added: “I am steadfast in ensuring I meet my obligations under the Local Government Act.”
Fellow Ward 4 ALP councillor, mayor Mark Greenhill, said he looked at whether Cr Bowling was attending to his civic duties.
“In this case the councillor is doing just that. These are circumstances beyond his control but he has continued to do his job,” he said.
