It might have taken a decade - or perhaps it just felt that long - but council has finally re-marked the parking bays at the top end of Pioneer Place.
For years people have struggled to open doors without hitting a neighbouring car in parking spots that were too narrow.
Staff at the nearby shops, including Cuts for All, Fish and Fowl and the Washing Well laundromat, have fielded complaints from patrons who have had to literally squeeze their way into and out of their cars.
But Pioneer Place has just been resurfaced and last Monday night, council line-markers were hard at work.
The result? Two fewer bays (down from 19 to 17) but plenty of room to move.
Washing Well owner Charmaine McGuigan was delighted. At last her customers will stop complaining, she said.
Ms McGuigan even demonstrated how she can even open wide the doors on her large-ish work van.
Two-metre tall local, Bruce Ferrier, who some months ago showed the Gazette how he struggled to even get his size 16 feet out of the door when parked right next to another car.
"Fantastic news. This will prove to be a great improvement."
