Anala Art Advisory in Glenbrook has had it's first exhibition for 2019, Bloom, which showcases floral paintings by Emma Barnet.
The opening of Bloom was held on Saturday February 23. The afternoon was well attended by locals and Sydney-siders. A very successful first solo show for artist Emma Barnet with many works sold prior to opening.
Barnet has a bright and varied career history. She studied illustration at the University of NSW and received the Young Illustrator Award for graduates in her final year. After this she moved into costume buying and costume artistry in the film and television industry with credits such as Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and The Great Gatsby to name a few.
She is now a florist and owner of the stunningly beautiful Flower Empire in Glenbrook.
Working daily as a florist, Barnet’s eye is attuned to the subtle detail, joy and variety of flowers. Combining this knowledge with her tertiary training in illustration, her paintings capture the fragility and temporary beauty of nature in the tradition of botanical illustration.
Bloom features depictions of flora and foliage at their peak, enlarged up to five times their natural size allowing the viewer to truly appreciate the vivid colours and subtle textures in each petal and leaf. The versatile beauty of the flower in all its forms provides a subject with enduring appeal – both for artist and collector alike. As Barnet puts it "nature and all its beauty is a necessity for humans in their lives".
Bloom is running until Friday March 8 at 6 Ross Street, Glenbrook. Contact Michael Powe on 0452 586 448 for more details.
