This Easter, hop into Katoomba for an Easter-egg hunt with a difference. Young Miss Marples and Hercule Poirots will be scouring Katoomba for clues to solve the great Katoomba Basket Case - Where did Hoppy leave her basket of eggs?
Seventeen letters of the alphabet have been hidden around Katoomba in store windows where Hoppy has left her paw prints. Find the letters, unscramble the clues and solve the mystery to go into a draw to win some fantastic prizes, including a family pass to Scenic World, High Tea at the Carrington, movie passes and shopping vouchers.
The competition has been organised by a group of cafe and shop owners in Katoomba, one of whose aims is to encourage more family and community involvement within the town.
"Katoomba CBD is a wonderful place, crammed with cafes, shops, galleries and beautiful street gardens," said spokeswomen Louise Florence and Debbie Cash. "We want to build on that and create a fun friendly atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.
"There has been a great response from the shops in town with so many getting involved and donating prizes... We also very much appreciate the support of the Katoomba Chamber of Commerce and Community which has helped enormously with costs."
But this Easter the activities are not just for budding detectives. Young artists can enter a colouring-in competition and have their masterpieces displayed in store windows around town and have the chance to win vouchers from the Artist Store in Katoomba.
Competition entry forms can be picked up where ever you see paw prints on the window. Entries close 5pm on April 23.
