What is a meaningful life? How do you achieve it?
These two questions have intrigued philosophers for millennia. They are now the focus of a series of conversations with seven distinguished Blue Mountains' residents.
The conversations will take place over a seventh month period from May to November at the Cultural Centre in Katoomba on Sundays.
"These are questions that have always intrigued me," said Phil Voysey, Director of Cultural Connexions and initiator of the program. "I'm a bit of a traveller and a philosopher at heart."
"Normally we would go to the great philosophers, spiritual teachers and scientists for answers to these questions. But I wanted to find out what 'ordinary' people think and do to create meaningful lives."
The first two conversations in May and June will be with musician Eliot Reynolds and executive and personal coach, Jay Hedley.
"Eliot has overcome a struggle with alcohol to become an enormously talented guitarist and songwriter. He's also committed to bringing out the best in others through the open mic sessions he runs every month in the Mountains and as an audio engineer in the recording studio," said Mr Voysey.
"Jay shares the same commitment through his coaching. He's what I call a professional disruptor in the way he challenges us to see ourselves and the world differently."
