They've seen fire and rain, and felt the earth move. Together, they helped to define the songbook of '70s America. Now the timeless music of troubadours James Taylor and Carole King comes to the Blue Mountains Theatre in a night of nostalgia that will both captivate and entertain.
Taylor and King are two of the biggest selling artists of all time, with careers spanning over five decades. Their songs have a special place in music history, serving as the soundtrack for a generation of listeners. Experience a superb salute to their music along with a selection of classic '70s hits from artists such as Jackson Browne, Crosby Stills Nash, Neil Young and more.
King and Taylor first collaborated almost 40 years ago, coming together at West Hollywood's legendary Troubadour nightclub on Santa Monica Boulevard.
In a recent interview, Taylor said: "I've played You've Got a Friend for audiences over and over again, and it never grows tired for me." For Taylor, he's taken back to that moment in time when he first heard the song at the Troubadour.
"I looked down at Carole playing her set on the stage below. As soon as I heard the tune I just had to play it. I was desperate to get to my guitar and wander through those changes and sing that song," he said.
Now, in this special event, Timo Tolvanen and Lauren Roby take on the roles of Taylor and King respectively, capturing the magical sound that took these two artists to the top of music charts across the world.
The seven-piece band features award-winning singers and musicians who have performed to packed houses around Australia and overseas, and together they faithfully reproduce these timeless songs with immaculate harmonies and the highest level of musicianship
Classic hits such as Fire and Rain, How Sweet It Is, It's Too Late, I Feel the Earth Move and You've Got a Friend are interspersed with other 70s hits such as Summer Breeze, Running On Empty, Woodstock and Heart of Gold.
