Fans of PG Wodehouse will be excited to hear Richmond Players are bringing the hilarious Jeeves & Wooster in Perfect Nonsense to the Richmond School of Arts.
When a country house weekend takes a turn for the worse, Bertie Wooster is unwittingly called on to play matchmaker-reconciling the affections of his host's drippy daughter Madeline Bassett with his newt-fancying acquaintance Gussie Fink-Nottle.
If Bertie, ably assisted by the ever-dependable Jeeves, can't pull off the wedding of the season, he'll be forced to abandon his cherished bachelor status and marry the ghastly girl himself.
Written by David and Robert Goodale and based on Wodehouse's 1938 novel The Code of the Woosters, the stage show is also the winner of the 2014 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy.
Director Kylie Lowe said the humour in Jeeves & Wooster will appeal to people of all ages. "To me, there is no greater humorist in the English language than PG Wodehouse, who wrote more than 100 novels," she said.
Joel Baltaks of North Richmond plays Bertie Wooster. "I've always really enjoyed British comedy and he's such a fun character," he said. "Very innocent and well-spoken and goofy.
