It opened with some fanfare just six years ago but the "for sale" sign is now up outside the Target store in Katoomba.
Agents Knight Frank are offering the building for sale.
Its website says: "Currently owner occupied by Target Australia, this freestanding retail showroom with rear warehousing presents a flexible opportunity to invest or occupy."
The retail/warehouse space covers 2,370 square metres. There are 38 car spaces and a total land size of 3,298 square metres.
The building is selling through expressions of interest which close on September 5.
Target opened in June, 2013, as part of a major makeover of the shopping precinct between Parke Street and Pioneer Place. It took over a building which used to house a Franklins supermarket and a number of other smaller retailers.
At the same time, Kmart and Coles moved out of premises further down towards Waratah Street, where Woolworths and Big W now are.
The Gazette has contacted Wesfarmers, owner of the Target brand, for information about the future of the store.
