Blue Mountains residents could notice a higher level of smoke in the air on the weekend.

The NSW Rural Fire Service is conducting two hazard reduction burns between Saturday August 17 and Sunday August 18.

Huntley Grange stage one is taking place between a portion of the Birdwood Gully Walking Track, Fairway Crescent Springwood, Fairway Avenue Springwood and properties to rear of Linksview Road Springwood. The size is 10.5 hectares and the Rural Fire Service is the lead agency involved.

And on Saturday and Sunday a 12.54 hectare hazard reduction is taking place between Bee Farm Avenue and Burns Road in Springwood. Again the RFS is responsible.

Further information regarding these activities can be found at http://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/hr.

Residents are warned not to enter any closed area or area with fire. For more information about fire safety in parks and reserves, visit the NSW National Parks fire safety page for park safety guidelines.
