Jimmi Carr is a local singer-songwriter with a long history in the Mountains community.
He has released four albums and an EP under his own name and two releases with his electronic/rock cross over project, Innamech.
Carr's music moves through folk, blues, alt-country, funk and rock. It could be described as somewhere between Wilco, Ben Harper and Beck.
Carr and his bands have toured extensively, playing major festivals and venues all over Australia. His music has received extensive airplay and Carr's most recent solo album was album of the week on ABC northern NSW as well as ABC far north Queensland.
Carr has been focusing on his electronic/rock crossover act Innamech for the past couple of years but is now back in a more organic mode, with a new band. The new Jimmi Carr Band album, Second Story, encapsulates everything the band do best. Thoughtful songs with big hooks, funky grooves and a touch of country twang.
The overall vibe of the album is upbeat and hopeful but it also covers some serious themes. Included with the CD version of the album is a bonus disc, Best of the early years.
The new album ... encapsulates everything the band do best.
The two singles released ahead of the album, Free Right Now and Invisible Bone have received significant airplay around Australia. Jimmi Carr Band are launching the new album on Friday, September 13, at the beautiful Blue Mountains YHA ballroom, 207 Katoomba St. They will be supported by Maizy Coombes as well as circus/comedy duo Buck and California. Doors open 7pm. Suitable for all ages.
