A passion for health and a desire to practise naturopathy prompted Amelia Evans to open her Wentworth Falls business in April.

Five months later Ms Evans couldn't be happier with the way in which Pure Health Foods has fulfilled her dream.

"As a fully trained naturopath with many years of experience in the health industry I saw the need to create a store where customers could make use of my knowledge and know they were purchasing products of a high standard," Ms Evans said.

She has lived and worked in the Upper Blue Mountains for more than 10 years and loves the village atmosphere of the towns and the positive attitude towards health and well-being.

"I have found the local residents to be so encouraging of my venture and the Wentworth Falls community has displayed a preference to shop local and support small business, for which I am very grateful," she said.

The store stocks quality supplements as well as cleaning products, organic skin care and make up, gluten-free and organic foods, pantry staples, snack foods and reusable bottles, boxes and wraps.

"Most people will find something that sparks their interest, although I have to say my best seller is probably chocolate followed closely by chips," Ms Evans said.

"However, they are quality snack foods with a difference being vegan or fair trade or sustainably produced and packaged or all of the above, so I still feel they are good choices."

As well as "shop floor" naturopathic advice, Ms Evans offers comprehensive naturopathic consultations outside of shop hours three days a week.

She is able to dispense practitioner only supplements and blend liquid herbal remedies as required and is more than happy to place special orders for customers if they are having trouble sourcing a particular item.

"Naturopathy uses an individual treatment approach to health and healing through dietary and lifestyle changes, herbal medicine and nutritional supplementation," Ms Evans said.

"Initial consultations take over an hour and include a full naturopathic health assessment, nail and tongue analysis, investigation of current diet and an exercise review."
