Faster, steeper, higher, deeper! The most adrenaline-inducing mountain sport films from around the globe will thrill and inspire you with big-screen adventures when the Radical Reels Tour hits the road around Australia this October.
The festival is the Banff Mountain Film Festival's more outrageous, adventurous little sibling and is characterised by 'Oh my God' moments as elite athletes and adventurers conquer their challenges and dreams.
The Radical Reels Film Festival strives to showcase the best mountain and adventure films out there, as well as being a media platform for outdoor athletes to instigate discussion on critical topics such as climate change.
This year's tour promises to get your pulse racing, from the safety of your cinema seat. It will be at Katoomba's Edge United Cinemas on October 16.
Watch death defying feats of pure genius, verging on insanity, shot in some of the planets most spectacular settings. Transporting audiences from remote Patagonian mountains with a crew of mad capped Belgian climbers to the powder-laden slopes of the US. Witness the birth of mountain bike freeriding and join dedicated adventurers on their own personal epic challenges. Radical Reels promises the best of skiing, climbing, and biking not to mention human resilience and astounding skill.
"The films showcase just how far humans can push the limits of risk, of speed, of fitness, and of sanity in some truly spectacular yet formidable environments," says festival director, Jemima Robinson.
Highlights include Ice and Palms, the journey of two German friends Max and Jochen - five weeks, 1,800km and 35,000km vertical metres self-propelled across the Alps. Starting in Germany and finishing at the Mediterranean, it's the tale of a raucous bike packing journey, summiting mountains and skiing iconic lines along the way. Then there's Liv Along the Way, the story of Liv Sansoz, 40, who has spent her life in the mountains since summiting Mont Blanc as a teen. A former world champion sport climber who's also into base jumping,she sets out to climb all 82 of the 4,000m peaks in the European Alps in a single year, skiing and paragliding down where possible.
