New lifts at Glenbrook Railway Station will open before Christmas.
Penrith MP Stuart Ayres joined Glenbrook resident John Stalling to announce that the new lifts would become operational, providing much needed accessibility relief for customers travelling during the holiday season.
"Construction work at Glenbrook, as well as Kingswood stations, started in February this year, and I am pleased that the new lifts will be available for customers ahead of schedule," said Mr Ayres.
"Our less mobile customers and those travelling with luggage and prams will find it easier to access train services thanks to the new lifts and improved facilities at the stations."
"With more people deciding to use public transport than ever before it's great to see Kingswood and Glenbrook have accessibility upgrades.
"We made a promise to the residents of Glenbrook that a lift would be installed and we have delivered on that promise," he said.
Mr Stalling welcomed the upgrade saying "this is just fantastic and will save me at least 50 minutes of travel time".
The Glenbrook station upgrade also includes a new, accessible kiss and ride area on Burfitt Parade, new ambulant and family toilets, upgrades to CCTV, wayfinding and lighting to improve safety and security.
