The Glenbrook Players has been performing to grateful audiences for 45 years. Starting in 1975, the group continues to be the premier theatrical company in the Lower Mountains, producing two theatrical productions each year, in May and November, at the Glenbrook Theatre auditorium.
This year for the Glenbrook Players is another of supporting local creative talent and its younger members, in particular, to build their skills and explore new territory.
Members Josh Stojanovic and Kane Baltesch have been granted an opportunity to be first-time directors, starting with a farcical tale of stars from stage and screen; Orson's Shadow, by Austin Pendleton from May 12-23 directed by Stojanovic.
In November, Baltesch will direct the door-slamming riotous comedy, Lend Me a Tenor, by Ken Ludwig.
Members of the players can benefit in all sorts of ways. Each year in honour of much-loved member Alex Hageman, a memorial creative development fund can be applied for by active members of the group who are under the age of 35.
There are also opportunities with directing, stage management, design, costuming, operation of sound or lighting, publicity and more. Or just come along for the social aspect. Everyone is welcome.
With quality productions, social activities and a fun, supportive membership, Glenbrook Players is keen to hear from potential new members. Please email secretary@glenbrookplayers.com.au, call 0474 789 585 or visit the website www.glenbrookplayers.com.au.
