Bushfires, floods, landslides, and a global virus - it hasn't been an easy start to the year for many small businesses in the Blue Mountains who rely on tourism and a thriving local economy.
Altitude Small Business Conference is offering an opportunity for small business owners to take this year into their own hands by planning ahead, recovering together and working out the next steps they will need to take to succeed this year.
The Altitude Small Business Conference is being held from March 12-13 at the Fairmont Resort in Leura and is being presented by Blue Mountains networking businesses, Women with Altitude and Men's Altitude Network.
In response to the recent disasters, the Altitude Conference is now offering a disaster recovery session on Friday, March 13 from 2- 5pm. The session will include a presentation from the Blue Mountains City Council and a leading specialist in business continuity, Rinske Geerlings, who will speak on building resilience and planning for the unexpected.
Blue Mountains mayor Mark Greenhill said Blue Mountains City Council is proud to be a platinum partner of the Altitude Small Business Conference.
"Our Blue Mountains are full of ambitious, resourceful and resilient people whose businesses are facing challenging times," he said. "This timely event will bring people together to connect, to support each other and to access the necessary expertise to assist them in their recovery and ensure their sustainability. When we strengthen our local businesses and economy the entire Blue Mountains community benefits."
Founder of Women with Altitude and Men's Altitude Network, Andrea Turner-Boys, said the conference will help local businesses take practical steps to plan for the year ahead after what has been a challenging season.
"We want to help small businesses thrive and build a flourishing business through all seasons of life," said Ms Turner-Boys. "We have an incredible line-up of speakers who will cover a variety of topics such as marketing, branding, finance, social media, small business best practice, personal wellness and more.
"We are thankful for our amazing sponsors, Blue Mountains City Council, the Western Sydney Business Centre, Judge Accountants and Blue Eco Homes. They have been an integral part of launching the inaugural Altitude Small Business Conference in the Blue Mountains."
