The Gang Gangs Bush Band is raising funds for bushfire victims the best way they know how - through dancing
The Gang Gangs Bush Band was created by community volunteers from the bushcare movement in the mid 1990's. It has always been a community band, often fundraising for groups such as the Blue Mountains Refugee Support Group and the Blue Mountains East Timor Sisters. It started with busking for Save Springwood Town Square.
The Gang Gangs will be at the historic Mechanics Institute in Lawson on Saturday, March 21, 7-10pm, to raise funds for the mayoral bushfire victims fund.
The focus of the band is to enjoy playing music, and this includes watching people having fun dancing and building community. The band plays bush music, with a heavy Celtic focus, with instruments that include the guitar, concertina, tin whistle, recorder, harp, harmonica and violin.
Come along and dance the night away with friends and family for a good cause. Tickets cost only $10 and all door takings will go to the Blue Mountains Mayoral Fund to assist bushfire victims.
Dances will be called and food and drink will be available to buy courtesy of Lyttleton Stores Co-operative. Tickets at the door. For more information contact Mike Purtell on 4751 2143.
