Thousands more vegetable seeds were planted out in prepared for an influx of customers. The result?
"Absolutely unprecedented record sales," said marketing manager Kathy Hill.
"We had previously in NSW had a very soft spring with the drought, water restrictions and then the fires.
"To have this now, it's just been wonderful."
Oasis, which supplies retailers across the country, has had to hire more staff to keep up with demand, which boomed virtually overnight, Ms Hill said.
"It was pretty well Monday, March 16, it just all took off.
"On March 1, we came off water restrictions. Sales were picking up. Then since the 16th we have tripled our demand."
It's been predominantly vegetables but there's also been an increase in sales of flower seedlings.
Oasis can also help out with advice for people who may not have grown vegetables before. Just as Blackheath horticulturalist Robin Johnson can do.
Mr Johnson grows his own organic seedlings in his backyard and is now supplying to Mitre 10.
Mr Johnson, a former head gardener at Old Parliament House in Canberra, has three tunnels where he starts off his seeds before moving the seedlings outside to harden up.
At the moment, he has beetroot, silverbeet, broccoli, parsley, rocket and lettuce sprouting.
He will sell from his backyard but more importantly wants to share his expertise.
"I'm prepared to give my knowledge free of charge," he said, answering anything from what seedlings should be planted now and how they should be cared for to creating good, healthy soil.
"It's my way of helping the community while we're in this lockdown," he said.
