The school holiday workshops usually hosted by Blue Mountains libraries have moved online this month.
Artist Naomi Oliver will be presenting a smorgasbord of art and craft that children can do from home. Oliver has been running school holiday workshops for many years at Blue Mountains Library and is an experienced art teacher.
All activities are free but please note that you must book in for some. Places are limited.
Tuesday, July 7: Picasso masks (6-12 years). Ever wondered why Pablo Picasso painted such strange faces? Find out the answer in this class and get creative with recycled cardboard to create a one-of-a-kind Picasso-inspired mask. This is a bookable, interactive event delivered via Zoom. Numbers are limited and bookings are essential.
Wednesday, July 8: Winter sensory painting (6-12 years). This sensory activity will focus on using different materials (such as salt) to slurp up all of your colours and change your artwork before your very eyes. Messy-but-very-fun alert! This event will be delivered via Facebook. No bookings required.
Thursday, July 9: Loom knitted beanies. Learn this easy knitting technique via video and start a fun winter project to make at home. Oliver will show how to make a loom knitted beanie. This event will be delivered via Facebook. No bookings required. (12-18 years)

Wednesday, July 15: Watercolour snowflakes (6-12 years). Make beautiful and delicate snowflakes from paper doilies, and add watercolour paint to make them pop. This is a bookable, interactive event delivered via Zoom. Numbers are limited and bookings are essential.

Katoomba and Springwood libraries have reopened 9am-5pm weekdays; all other branches remain closed. Residents can enter a branch and browse the shelves as usual although they are asked to be as quick as possible to accommodate others.
Staff may not be able to be as hands-on as normal with troubleshooting for PCs, copying and printing. These services will be predominantly DIY. Computers are available for half an hour per customer as is WiFi.
Book bins are open for returns at all branches, both open and closed. All returned items will be quarantined for 72 hours prior to being replaced into the collection.
