Former Macquarie MP Alasdair Webster is facing 13 historic sexual abuse charges.
The sex allegations relate to three different men. A fourth man was allegedly assaulted by Webster.
The case was briefly mentioned in Penrith Local Court last Friday, when the prosecution asked for an adjournment to allow for further statements to be taken from two of the complainants.
Webster, 86, of Springwood, is charged with eight counts of indecent assault on a male, two of an indecent act with a male, one of attempted buggery, one of buggery and one of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The sexual offences allegedly occurred at Berkshire Park near Windsor between 1977 and 1979.
The one count of assault allegedly occurred in early 1984.
Webster was chief superintendent of Daruk Boys' Home from 1973-1994.
Police allege Webster fondled one male complainant and forced him to perform oral sex. A second male has claimed that Webster committed buggery on him as well as rubbing his genitals. A third complainant alleges manual interference.
Webster was Liberal MP for Macquarie from 1984-1993.
The case returns to Penrith court on August 7.
Lightning strikes
On Sunday night, several lightning strikes hit part of the Upper Mountains as a storm passed over the area.
At about 7.30pm, lightning hit a gas main outside a residence on Queens Road, Leura, causing it to rupture. The gas caught fire, shooting flames two- to three-metres high from the gas line. Emergency services responded and Queens Road was closed. The fire was contained and extinguished within about an hour.
About 9.20pm, another lightning strike ruptured a gas main in Sinclair Crescent, Wentworth Falls, but on this occasion the strike did not cause the gas to catch fire and it leaked out. Emergency services were contacted and attended.
Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters found gas bubbling up through cracks in the roadway. A 200-metre exclusion zone was established and 80 people evacuated from 33 homes. An evacuation centre was established at the Wentworth Falls RFS building and the rail line closed in both directions. By 2.20am, the gas company had fixed the leak and the exclusion zone was lifted.
Drink driving
Two men returned positive breath tests last Friday night. A 31-year-old Leura man was stopped at Katoomba and returned a result of 0.08. And a 57-year-old man from Hawkesbury Heights was stopped in Springwood, returning a reading of 0.105.
