Binti the giraffe has delivered her first calf, and he's almost six-foot tall!
The team at Mogo Wildlife Park on NSW's South Coast welcomed the new arrival on Monday, August 3.
The baby male is the ninth in the park's collection of Rothschilds' Giraffes.
He was born to first time mum, Binti, and keepers said she was amazing throughout her labour of close to three hours.
Zookeeper Chad Staples and giraffe keepers were delighted to see the baby rise to his feet relatively quickly, and said he was showing good signs of strength and health and was feeding well.
In a beautiful sight, Binti's Mum and the calf's father came and checked on Binti and the new calf after the birth.
Binti and the new calf are now spending some time on their own, as all new mums and bubs do.
Keepers said Binti can still see and connect with the rest of the herd, who like most of our relatives following a new birth, are eagerly approaching to check on the bay's progress.
The calf stands close to six foot in height and weighs approximately 90kg - 100kg, compared to mother Binti at four metres tall and 850kg in weight.
