In a wet weekend, in the 24 hours to 9am on Monday, Medlow Bath recorded the most rain in the Blue Mountains at 72mm. The Blue Mountains SES unit received 10 calls for assistance, the majority for fallen trees.
"On Sunday afternoon, we had members prepared for a snow response, however, there was only a small amount of snow that settled in Blackheath which did not cause any significant issues," said unit commander John Hughes. "We only had one call of ice from the snow had blocked gutters causing leaking into the house."
As we head into the windiest part of the year, Mr Hughes reminded residents to keep their properties well maintained, check for trees that are overhanging or leaning against buildings, and ensure that outdoor equipment such as furniture and toys are well secured.
