This Saturday, October 3, Radio Blue Mountains will once again focus on playing songs from local Mountains musicians and entertainers in an eight hour marathon from 2pm-10pm.
The concept of a "local long weekend" began back in June when everyone was in lockdown and there was no music being played in any of the pubs or clubs.
The station didn't know how much local content they would get for the June show but, by the time they went to air, they had over five hours of local music submitted for a three-hour program.
Radio announcer, Richard "The Duck" Keegan said: "Four months later I can tell the local musicians have been busy during the COVID-19 restrictions as we've had more than 12 hours of music presented for playing on air.
"Radio Blue Mountains prides itself on being the voice of the Mountains and we're so proud to be the platform for some musicians to get their songs played publicly to a bigger audience than the local garage," he said.
Many of the musicians have not had the chance to get heard on the radio so Mr Keegan encouraged everyone to leave the radio tuned in to 89.1FM all day on Saturday to hear the diverse talent.
"It's really broad spectrum ranging from bluegrass and folk, to heavy metal, and even some psychedelic funk," Mr Keegan said.
Radio Blue Mountains 89.1 is a volunteer community radio station serving the Blue Mountains since 1993. It is at 89.1 FM, streaming on the internet or on Facebook.
