The trek has raised almost $82,000 this year, to be spent over the next two years on projects in the Hatobuilico region of Timor Leste.
The Blue Mountains Virtual Trek for Timor 2020 committee described this result as "successful beyond our wildest dreams", and has profusely thanked all trekkers, walkers, sponsors, volunteers and corporate sponsor Hobbs Plumbing and Bathrooms.
"This means that we will be able to continue supporting the secondary school and many students, and also the projects of the many active and effective women's groups in the region," said committee member Susan Ambler.
"Even in such a difficult year as this one people have given up their time and money to support others, you can all be extremely proud of yourselves and each other. Thank you."
The trek's highest fundraisers were John Tweedie, Louise Wadley and Sue Atherton. Each undertook an unusual and difficult 'virtual' trek. Mr Tweedie walked for one week with various supportive friends, the 120km from Chatswood to Blackheath; Ms Atherton completed 100km in one day; and Ms Wadley completed 10km inside her quarantine hotel room in one evening.
Sponsorship donations are now closed, but donations can still be made directly to the Trek auspicing body Together for Timor Inc. and the donation will also support projects in Timor Leste. Details available at www.trekfortimorbm.org.au
