A man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was assaulted with a hammer at a Sydney hotel.
The 26-year-old woman was found badly injured in a hotel room on Pitt Street about 11pm on Tuesday.
She suffered injuries to her head and face and is still in a serious condition in the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
Police uncovered knives, ammunition and other weapons when they searched a unit on Rodgers Street in Kingswood as part of their investigation on Wednesday.
Officers then launched an extensive search through bushland in the Blue Mountains.
They arrested a 41-year-old man on Thursday, while further investigations also uncovered a firearm in bushland at Lapstone.
The man has been charged with five offences including attempted murder.
He'll face Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.
