Audiences will be bopping in their seats when Blue Mountains Musical Society (BMMS) makes their triumphant return to the stage with Jersey Boys in May. The production features smash-hit songs set against the biographical story of the formation and eventual break-up of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.
Despite the title of the Tony Award-winning musical, women are an integral force in driving the story forward. Undertaking the roles of Frankie's love interests are Dylan Hayley Rosenthal and Jenna Woolley.
Rosenthal, who first joined the musical society for their livestream production BMMS Online 2.0, will play first wife, Mary Delgado.
"Mary is a firecracker of a woman who isn't afraid to put herself out there. However, beneath this confident faade is a dreamer who feels incredibly deeply and wishes for a life that she knows isn't aTainable," Rosenthal said.
Playing reporter Lorraine is Blue Mountains resident Jenna Woolley, who graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) with a Diploma of Musical Theatre in 2019. The performer is relishing being part of her first show with BMMS since Jesus Christ Superstar in 2017.
She is eager to portray a strong, career driven woman who juggles her own interests, as well as her relationship with Frankie.
"Jersey Boys promises to be a great night out with great music and a great cast!" she said.
Aside from the female leads and ensemble members, the BMMS production of Jersey Boys will also star five featured dancers. Ranging in age from 17 to 32, they possess a wealth of training and professional experience. The youngest is Springwood High School student Alyssa Cass, who despite her young age has performed on a variety of platforms. She appeared in Gypsy with BMMS in 2019, and Cats with Packemin Youth in 2017. She has also performed in shows across Sydney with Australian Global Entertainment and said she was delighted to be performing the technical, energetic and slick choreography of Rebecca Savage.
"I'm most looking forward to performing 'My Boyfriend's Back' because I love how fun and upbeat the choreography is!" she added.
