The poetry of Mt Riverview mother, Cali Prince, has been included in a new book on mothering during COVID.
Ms Prince's poem, Women's Witness, forms chapter two of Mothers, Mothering and COVID-19 edited by Andrea O'Reilly and Fiona Joy Green.
Ms Prince described her poem as "a reflection of mothering in these times".
She said the book highlights the extra load many mothers are encountering in Australia and across the globe during the pandemic.
"It is a wonderful collection of writing by women from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences."
Ms Prince said she wrote the poem during last year's lockdown.
At the same time she worked as a sessional academic teaching classes online for the Western Sydney University, as well as home-schooling her primary school aged daughter and completing her doctorate.
"Women's Witness illuminates how during quarantine through the COVID-19 pandemic, many mothers are carrying a triple or even quadruple additional load in the largely invisible spaces of their homes," Ms Prince said.
"This can include (but may not be limited to) the added load of home-schooling, caring for elders or others, extra household duties while still maintaining their usual paid and/ or unpaid work.
"I hope my work included in this book may provide a form of acknowledgement as well as giving voice to and bearing 'witness' to the ... loads many women are carrying through this time."
Mothers, Mothering and COVID-19 is available through major book sellers or direct through the publisher, Demeter Press.
