Australian Flower Mandalas, designed and published by Katoomba-based photographic artist Leonarda Kovacic, is a new 20-page book for creatives, or those aspiring to be.
Combining the uniqueness and beauty of Blue Mountains wildflowers and the symbolic representations of mandalas, the images in this book demonstrate that there is a whole universe in every flower, and everything and everyone else on our amazing planet.
Every second page features a close-up photographic image of an Australian native flower framed by a matching colour, while the opposite page is a pale copy of the same flower, to allow for tracing and colouring the flower outline or filling the page with sketches, poems, diary entries, or whatever may take one's fancy.
The book is light and portable (20cm x 20cm), as Ms Kovacic hopes to encourage people to grow their own creativity by keeping it in their bag and taking it for a walk with them. Tracing or sketching mandala shapes has been proven to be therapeutic and a great stress-relief method.
In hard times, this book is Ms Kovacic's gift of sparking joy and deep beauty to humanity. It can aid us in navigating with dignity and enjoyment our inner journey through lockdowns.
The book is available from www.etsy.com/au/shop/LeonardaPhotography at $25 for soft cover, and $39 for hard cover as well as for wholesale supply to local retail venues. A part of proceeds from this publication will go towards supporting local environmental causes.
