Earlier success on Tuesday morning belonged to Aussie surfer Owen Wright who has a shot at an Olympic medal after advancing to the semi-finals in Japan.
After a slow start in messy conditions at Tsurigasaki Surfing Beach due to the impact of Tropical Storm Nepartak, Wright took control with scores of 6.67 and 6.07 to beat Peru's Luca Mesinas 12.74 to 7.83.
Australian swimmer Kaylee McKeown has won the gold medal in the 100-metre backstroke.
McKeown's triumph is Australia's third gold of the Games, following the women's 4x100m freestyle relay and Ariarne Titmus in the 400m freestyle.
The Kookaburras have underlined their gold-medal credentials while crushing reigning Olympic champions Argentina 5-2 in Tokyo.
While Australia's pistol shooters missed out on the medal shootouts.
