Book lovers of the Lower Mountains have had to wait a long time to browse the shelves of The Turning Page, Springwood's independent bookshop that has delighted bibliophiles for nearly 40 years.
The store opened its doors after the three-month lockdown on October 19, with owner Peggy Miedlar understandably delighted to welcome customers back through the doors.
"Having our customers back in the shop browsing and watching their eyes light up on seeing all the new titles on the shelves has been amazing," she said.
"Catching up with the regulars has been really heart-warming too and really reinforced the strong connection the bookshop has with the community."
Miedlar notes that with Christmas fast approaching, books as gifts are proving popular, as are greetings cards.
"And the kids are finally able to pore over all the delightful, engaging new releases," she said. "Children's picture books are also flying out the door with parents able choose the perfect book by looking at the internal content."
"We want to thank all our customers for their patience during the lockdown period and for buying locally," said Miedlar. "Their support has meant we were able to continue to operate our business and keep all our incredibly dedicated and hard-working employees on board.
"We look forward to once again chatting about our favourite books in the aisles."

The Turning Page Bookshop is located at Shop 1, 125 Macquarie Road, Springwood, and is open 9:30am to 5pm Tuesday to Friday, and 9:30am to 2:30pm on Saturday.
