It was one of the very first casualties of COVID-19 in 2020 but the Blue Mountains Music Festival is planning a welcome return to Katoomba in 2022.
The 25th music festival will be held from March 18-20 next year with the same Australian headline acts that were due to appear at the 2020 festival before it was abruptly cancelled due to COVID-19.
John Butler and Kasey Chambers will join a line-up that includes international artists like the UK's Ralph McTell, Guatemala's Gaby Moreno and Scotland's Elephant Sessions.
Music fans were denied the chance to see Butler and Chambers in March, 2020 when a confirmed coronavirus case (as the virus was known then) at Katoomba High School left organisers with little choice but to cancel the festival on the day it was due to start.
Uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 restrictions saw organisers make an early decision to postpone the 2021 festival as well.
But festival director Bob Charter said he was delighted about the event's return in 2022.
"We as a festival are thrilled that the music festival can finally have its 25th event. It's also reassuring that almost all of the Australian performers from 2020 have now been contracted to perform at what will be an amazing festival," he said.
"We are very grateful for all the support we've had and are looking forward to once again raising the flags on the big top."
All 2020 festival ticketholders who chose to holdover their tickets to 2021 will be automatically carried over next year's festival.
Earlybird tickets are currently on sale for BMMF 2022. For more information visit: https://bmff.org.au/.
The festival has a long association with the Katoomba Public School P&C who make up a large proportion of its stellar volunteers, "without who it would be impossible to hold such a fantastic festival", said Mr Charter.
